Finnish Operator Elisa, Tuesday announced that it has successfully conducted 5G trial in Helsinki in partnership with Nokia. The Operator demonstrated a VR(virtual reality) game during the trial.
Being the first to conduct 5G trial in the country, the operator claims that the they have achieved peak speeds of 5Gbps with an impressive delay of 2-6 milliseconds. The tests was conducted at relatively low frequencies of 4.5 gigahertz using 64 QAM(quadrature amplitude modulation) modulation and 200 megahertz channel between the base station and the terminal operating system.
Ovum forecasts that there will be 24 million 5G subscriptions worldwide at the end of 2021 for mobile and fixed broadband services. The market research firm estimates that 5G services will be available in more than 20 markets worldwide by the end of 2021, covering all four major world regions. However, the vast majority of 5G subscriptions will be concentrated in the US, Japan, China, and South Korea, where major operators have revealed aggressive timelines for launching 5G services.
