Search engine giant, Google, this week launches click-to-deploy video streaming - Wowza Media Systems - for its Google Compute Engine users. The new video streaming engine that is delivered via Google Cloud Platform is aimed at helping organizations to quickly deploy high quality video and audio streaming service. The service promises a host of user-friendly features and attractive commercial proposition, including charging based on per-minute-billing.
Srikanth Belwadi, product manager of Google’s Cloud Platform in a blog post earlier this week said that "Wowza Streaming Engine software running on Cloud Platform enables you to stream high-quality, live and on-demand content to users anywhere in the world from Google’s reliable network. Using this cloud-native setup, your content streams are powered by Google’s high-performance virtual machines, automatically taking advantage of fast VM provisioning and global load balancing. "
The Wowza Streaming Engine also boasts advance encoding features such as the Wowza Transcoder which provides unlimited real-time video transcoding for adaptive streaming to accommodate a variety of end-user devices and network conditions.
