GLOBO Brazil Picks NEC for Live 4K Terrestrial Broadcasting Trials

Brazil's largest TV network broadcaster, GLOBO, and NEC Corporation, Japan are collaborating to build a live 4K terrestrial broadcasting trial system. The system will be based on real-time HEVC hardware-based encoder, the 4K/60p compliant VC-8150. The trial system will be used for GLOBO's live 4K terrestrial broadcasting demonstration– thereby providing viewers with the most advanced ultra-high definition experience.

  • According to NEC, it will continue its efforts to develop new technologies for next generation broadcasting services, enabling customers to create new value and produce high definition digital video.
