BBIX (OCX) connection point at Kobe Data Center (Nishi-ku, Kobe City) operated by NEC on December 1, 2023.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided on BBIX’s IX platform. OCX provides on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

BBIX and NEC signed a business partnership agreement in the business domain of data center connectivity, and NEC’s Inzai Data Center (Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture) and Kanagawa Data Center (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) are already OCX connection points. The newly added Kobe Data Center is located in a safe and convenient location, less susceptible to damage from natural disasters, and is located only one hour from the center of Osaka. The data center is also equipped with NEC’s proprietary facial recognition technology, making it a robust data center in terms of security. With the addition of the Kobe Data Center to the OCX network, customers in western Japan, especially in the Kobe area, will be able to use OCX through NEC’s high-quality data center.

By combining BBIX’s network solutions with NEC’s data center services, BBIX will continue to help customers accelerate their DX (Digital Transformation) and to contribute to new business creation.

Masaki Hirai, Senior Director, NEC Corporation

We are very pleased to announce that BBIX will open an OCX connection point at our Kobe Data Center. In addition to the two data centers in Eastern Japan that are already OCX connection points, the new connection point at the western Japan data center will enable us to provide OCX to customers in western Japan. We will continue to contribute to our customers’ DX promotion and business growth through our cooperation with BBIX.

Michikazu Fukuchi, Executive Vice President, Board Director and COO, BBIX

We are very pleased to be able to offer OCX to customers in western Japan through NEC’s high-performance data center with the opening of the OCX connection point at the Kobe Data Center. We will continue our efforts to provide high quality services with even higher security standards to many customers.
