WAN optimization firm, Riverbed Technology, Wednesday announced the acquisition of Germany-based SD-WAN (software-defined wide-area-network) startup, Ocedo. Riverbed said its integration of Ocedo’s technology will allow the company to expand its SD-WAN portfolio and also help Riverbed accelerate its Project Tiger initiative which was announced in Fall 2015, in which Riverbed plans to bring to market a new suite of application-centric SD-WAN solutions.

Ocedo provides solutions for software-defined branch office networking, with a portfolio of products that include secure gateways, wireless access points and switches, and an integrated cloud management system.

Jerry M. Kennelly, Riverbed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Ocedo is a compelling and strategic acquisition for Riverbed. Their innovative software-defined networking solutions perfectly complement our own strategic investments in R&D,  bringing disruption to the multi-billion dollar branch router market.

Jan Hichert, CEO of Ocedo
We are very excited to join the Riverbed team, as they are as passionate and committed as we are to disrupting the status quo by delivering superior networking solutions in today’s cloud, mobile and hybrid world.
