TIM Launches VoLTE Service, Expands LTE-A to More Cities

TIM, Telecom Italy's new brand has launched its VoLTE service - Voce 4G - to its customers, enabling standard voice calls to other networks and High Definition(HD) voice calls between customers on the same network. The service which can be accessed on Samsung S6, S6 EDGE, LG G4 and Microsoft Lumia 950 is available to customers who have activated the TIM Special Unlimited option, which grants them the allowance of using the service over their existing tariff plan.

Over time, the service will be extended to other devices and offers, along with new options such as high-definition video calls, sharing of videos, images and maps via real-time chat and file transfer.

Apart from VoLTE, TIM also announced the availability of its LTE-Advanced service across more cities. The operator which in November launched the service in Rome and four other major cities - Naples, Turin, Genoa and Pratowhich, has extended the service to Verona and Palermo. The advancement, through the 'Three Carrier Aggregation' technology allows speeds of up to 300 Mbps, enabling customers to enjoy Full HD and 4K movies on their mobile.

More recently, the operator also unveiled its Natale Giga Gratis free mobile Internet offer for the Christmas period, giving all prepay customers who take up the offer by 7th of January one month of free mobile internet access.
