35.6 million Tweets During Brazil-Germany Match, Data Usage Soared - 4G Americas

4G Americas, an industry trade organization made up of leading telecommunications service providers and manufacturers, released the infographics "Data Soars as Players Score: Mobile Data and World Cup". The infrographic shows that the recently concluded World Cup 2014 recorded the highest number of mobile interactions - from calls to information sharing, transmitted over data connections. This comes with the millions of dollars invested in ensuring the mobile networks across Brazil and also mobile services worldwide are ready to handle the surge in traffic expected to happen during match hours and throughout the World Cup 2014 season, including the sharp rise in roaming services.

The inforgraphics, which is shared below, compares social media engagement and use of mobile communication between the last two World Cups and also between the actual activity that took place and what was expected as mobile operators, content providers and solution providers pulled the latest and most innovative solutions together to ensure that the whole world connects throughout the season and enjoys the highest quality of service from anywhere in the world.
