UAE-based group mobile operator, Etisalat posted a consolidated revenue of Dh51.7 billion (USD$14 billion) for 2015, marking an increase of seven per cent year over year. The operator reported total subscribers of 167 million with active subscriber base reaching 11.6 million, representing year-on-year growth of 6 percent.
At the same time, Etisalat has appointed its current COO, Hatem Dowidar as acting CEO for the group. Dowidar will be taking over from Ahmad Julfar who tendered his resignation as the CEO of the Group for personal reasons. Dowidar brings over 24 years of experience in multinational companies, 18 years of which were spent within the telecommunications industry.
Prior to joining the Etisalat Group, Dowidar was the Group Chief of Staff for the Vodafone Group based in London, reporting to Vodafone Group CEO. He first joined Vodafone Egypt in 1999 during its early start-up stage, serving as Marketing Director (CMO) and later became the company's CEO from 2009 - 2014.
