Tech Mahindra, Wednesday launched its Virtual Network Function (VNF) Exchange, along with a number of leading new age providers of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) products, including Affirmed Networks, Intel, Oracle, Red Hat, RIFT.io.

Positioned as an independent global industry platform, Tech Mahindra’s VNF Exchange is aimed at pre-certifying VNF design, VNF stack and VNF performance. It is designed to enable Communication Service Providers and vendors to rapidly achieve VNF design certification based on the communications service providers’ network design and VNF stack pre-certification providing full NFV stack certification for VNFs including underlying hardware, hypervisors, OS, VNF, and Management and Orchestration (MANO)VNF benchmarking.

According to Tech Mahindra, the VNF Exchange is ideally suited for Communication Service Providers who want to reap the benefit of improved CapEx, OpEx and Agility of SDN and NFV as it speeds up their network transformation. 

Tech Mahindra’s VNF Exchange also enables “Innovative Business Models” for VNF vendors who can validate their solutions with an ecosystem of products.  VNF Exchange is designed to reduce the TCO for VNF vendors and, through pre-certification, can significantly accelerate Time-To-Market for the VNF vendors.

As an example, AT&T’s stated goal under their Domain 2.0 initiative is to virtualize and control 75 percent of their network by 2020. In order to achieve such goals, it is essential that we accelerate the network transformation rate.
