The largest mobile operator and Telefonica's subsidary in Peru, Movistar said that it will begin marketing its VoLTE service from the third quarter of the year in the capital city of Lima, extending to the other regions in the country next year. The operator made the announcement following a demonstration of the VoLTE technology in the Peruvian capital on the 9th of June.

In his statement, Luis Eduardo Garvan, manager of Brand & Marketing Communications, Telefonica said that Movistar is very pleased to be one of the first operators in Latin America to showcase this service to their customers. The service, added Luis, will improve their customers' experience on its 4G LTE network as it offers higher quality voice calls, allowing customers to enjoy high-definition voice (HD voice) and faster connection times. The executive also said that with the recent award of the 700 MHz band, the company can now expand its 4G LTE service throughout the country.
