Telefonica Deutschland Secures €450 million Loan Facility for Network Upgrades

Telefónica Deutschland via its subsidiary Telefónica Germany OHGbhas signed its first financing contract with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for an amount of 450 million euros.

The operator said that the funds will be used to finance investments in the consolidation, modernization and expansion of its mobile network after the acquisition of the E-Plus Group. The objective is to offer its customers countrywide innovative and advanced mobile broadband services.

After the successful placement of a syndicated loan facility of EUR 750 million in March 2016 and the repayment of the remaining intercompany loan from the Telefónica group in April 2016, the new EIB facility is another important milestone on the way to a diversified, independent and cost efficient financing profile for the entity, Telefónica Deutschland said in a statement.
