Regional operator in the Bavaria, M-net has selected Huawei G.fast solution for its second phase rollout of the Giga access network in Germany. The operator aims to optimize and transform its fixed network and provide ultra-fast broadband services for its customers.

The operator plans to cover 35,000 buildings using G.fast technology as part of its fibre expansion in Munich.

Huawei will provide E2E G.fast solution that includes optical line terminal (OLT), G.fast distributed point unit (DPU), and G.fast customer-premises equipment (CPE) to M-net. With the solution, M-net can roll out the network in an economic and efficient way, and users can obtain nearly similar ultra-broadband services experience as fiber, to enjoy applications such as multiple 4KTV streams, said Huawei.

The G.fast solution will reuse existing in-house cable infrastructure to provide ultra-broadband access with speeds of 500Mbps to 1Gbps, working on fiber to the building (FTTB) architecture.

Jens Prautzsch, M-net CEO
The decision for Huawei was an easy one, thanks to our successful previous cooperation with Huawei on the GPON technology. We intend to strengthen our market leadership in Bavaria, Germany with this new technology.

Kevin Hu, Huawei Germany CEO
In cooperation with M-net, we are once again able to enhance our global technology leadership. For the first time ever in Germany, we can offer a high-performance broadband connection with a FTTB connection based on the G.fast technology.
