At the recent Microsoft Build 2016 event, German automaker giant, BMW unveiled a new BMW Connected app designed to serve as a personal mobility companion for selected high end modes, including the 2016 BMW 7 Series flagship sedan. The app, powered by Microsoft Azure cloud platform is now available at the Apple App Store for BMW ConnectedDrive customers in the U.S. with iOS devices. The automaker plans to release the Android version in the near future.

The BMW Connected provides estimated travel times in and outside the vehicle for users' routine or planned destinations. Based on traffic conditions, users will be notified when it is time to leave, on iPhone or Apple Watch. It can also read users' calendar and puts the address for any upcoming tasks by priming it over the to-do list.

In addition, the app provides users with a host of remote vehicle-related functions such as being able to check on a car’s location and fuel levels or to turn on the air conditioning, unlock the doors and, in the case of hybrid models, the state of battery charge.
