Mobile network virtualization firm, Affirmed Networks, announced that it has been selected by Aire Networks, a mobile network provider based in Spain, to provide the Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) platform. Aire Networks will deploy Affirmed Networks’ Mobile Content Cloud solution as the foundation for virtualizing the service provider's mobile network infrastructure.

Affirmed Networks said that the selection by Aire Networks’ shows the growing interest in NFV from emerging operators who want to experience the flexibility, cost savings and new revenue opportunities that the architecture provides. Another benefit of NFV is speed of deployment – emerging operators that are not tied to inflexible, legacy networks are able to deploy NFV even more quickly than their larger counterparts. Many emerging service providers are drawn to NFV due to their familiarity with software-based architectures from an IT perspective, said the company.

Miguel Tecles, Aire Networks CTO
The virtualization of our mobile infrastructure permits Aire Networks to reduce our overall network costs, allowing us to offer our customers more flexible and economic services, while also opening new revenue streams for the company.

Mohammed Shanableh, Vice President of Global Operations of Affirmed Networks
This evolution is occurring across operators of all sizes, in all geographies, as our customers continue to recognize the transformational benefits this technology can provide from both a technology and business perspective.
