Aptilo's SMP enables Free WiFi with Social Media Logins and Location Based Services in Peru
 Wi-Fi service management

Aptilo, a leading provider of carrier-class Wi-Fi service management and offloading solutions, has been selected by Digital Way Peru, the only carrier-neutral provider of public Wi-Fi in Peru, to launch a free Wi-Fi service “WIGO wi-fi libre”. The Aptilo Service Management Platform™ (SMP) provides state-of-the-art mobile data management services, with integrated social media logins and hyper-local down to individual access point (AP) level, location-based services for fast, convenient Wi-Fi access and a personalized user experience. Digital Way’s WIGO users can now enjoy carrier-grade Wi-Fi at hotspots at top malls, parks, commercial municipalities and even at the national Estadio Nacional, the 40,000-seat sports stadium in Lima.

This marks an innovative move in the digital services segment with new monetization opportunities. When subscribers check into a WIGO hotspot either directly or via their social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter or Google+, Aptillo will use the location information to redirect them to customized landing pages that are build for the location, enabling relevant information and advertisements to be pushed to the user, and thus creating value for users and improving their experience. Service providers will also be able to deliver customized ads and create location-based advertisement revenues.

Wi-Fi service management“Location-based services are a natural fit for Wi-Fi hotspots as they provide advertisers with unique opportunities to reach the right audience at the right time,” said Torbjörn Ward, CEO, Aptilo Networks. “Digital Way has shown us yet another creative way to monetize Wi-Fi.”

“In Peru, people are hungry for free Wi-Fi. They are seeking open networks because data plans can be very expensive and slow. This business model, using Aptilo SMP, allows us to deliver carrier-class Wi-Fi, a streamlined sign-on process that encourages multiple access throughout the network, and the opportunity to offer location-based, personalized services,” said Carlos Andres Lopez CEO of Digital Way. .Source - Aptilo  (Oct 30, 2013)
