Telefónica I+D, the research and development company of the Telefónica Group, and Oracle have completed a process of defining, developing and testing to allow Oracle’s Tekelec Policy Server (PCRF) to extend mobile policy management to fixed broadband networks. This will allow the use of Policy Server and Oracle’s Tekelec Subscriber Profile Repository (SPR), or subscriber database, in a fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) environment.  The test was conducted based on Telefónica I+D’s business use cases for FMC capabilities and the solution sets out key next-generation policy management requirements that handle a more diverse set of subscriber-centric rules. In addition, it verifies the Policy Server support for Vendor Specific Attributes (VSA) variations of RADIUS implementations to help ensure smooth delivery of subscribers' desired services, especially in multi-vendor Broadband Remote Access Server (B-RAS) environments.

“Service providers have a tremendous untapped potential to create and offer new innovative broadband data services that both increase revenues and increase customer loyalty,” said Albert Fernandez, Senior Director, Europe Sales, Oracle Communications. “The first step is testing and implementing intelligent network technologies that give service providers a path to software-defined networks. We are excited to work with Telefónica I+D – Global CTO Unit as one of the great innovators in the field of networks”  Source - Oracle (Oct 28, 2013)
