The second largest mobile operator in the US, AT&T adds Nokia to its Domain 2.0 software-defined networking and network function virtualization supplier program to help develop its software-centric network. AT&T works with telecom vendors, startups and open source communities via the Domain 2.0 vendor ecosystem.
December last year, AT&T added Brocade, Ciena and Cisco Systems to the program. The Domain 2.0 program which was unveiled early last year aims to accelerate time-to-market with technologically-advanced products and services, providing customers with more control and ability to add new services on-demand and in near real-time.
According to AT&T, the company has this year, made great progress on its goal, virtualizing and controlling 5% of its target network – the first step towards virtualizing 75% in 2020.
Early this month, the operator enhanced the ecosystem with the introduction of Virtual Customer Premises Equipment (vCPE) through partnerships via the program.
