Mobile data optimization firm, Openwave Mobility announced that it has embedded Qosmos ixEngine into its Integra Layer 7 SDN/NFV platform, enabling visibility of application traffic in real-time to orchestrate value added services for mobile data.

Integra allows operators to dynamically insert value-added services such as real time video, audio and web optimization, innovative data quota, pricing and promotion options based on subscriber information, device, charging details, network congestion and content.

According to Openwave Mobility, this enables operators to differentiate from their competitors, maximizing potential revenues while minimizing infrastructure cost. Based on real-time traffic intelligence from Qosmos ixEngine, Openwave Mobility said that Integra manages mobile traffic, including encrypted traffic to direct traffic to specific services like firewall, caching, or video optimization. In addition, it also enables blocking of traffic in the case of suspected fraud or security threats, shaping and enforcing quality of service according to the application identified, and understanding and managing quota and promotion based on application intelligence.

Matt Halligan, CTO and VP of Engineering at Openwave Mobility
The rapidly increasing diversity of mobile data traffic is a challenge for service providers, who strive to deliver high quality user experience and to operate a profitable business.

Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO at Qosmos
Application level visibility is essential for telecom operators to optimize, protect and monetize mobile services. The partnership between Qosmos and Openwave Mobility is based on our shared vision that Layer 7 visibility is crucial for future networks based on SDN and NFV
