Sandvine, a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for fixed and mobile operators, Tuesday announced three wins for Sandvine’s universal Policy Charging and Rules Function (PCRF) in the second quarter of 2015. Sandvine's Service Delivery Engine (SDE) is designed to provide Operator the universal PCRF – a policy controller that supports the 3GPP (mobile) and PCMM (cable) standards as well as other interfaces such as RADIUS CoA and REST – in order to facilitate deployment in any mobile, fixed or converged network.
According to Sandvine, two of the orders are from regional North American mobile operators, one of which plans to use Sandvine’s PCRF as an essential component of their upcoming VoLTE rollout to provide guaranteed quality of service (QoS) for voice calls, while the other regional operator will be using Sandvine’s PCRF to enforce data quotas for their prepaid subscribers. The third order received was from a tier-1 operator in Eastern Europe who will be using Sandvine’s PCRF for a number of use cases focusing on service creation, said the company.

These three orders demonstrate how Sandvine’s universal PCRF is continuing to gain traction with mobile operators who are looking to deploy innovative prepaid and postpaid subscriber services. As network operators look to extend their services into additional access technologies, we believe the universal nature of our PCRF will continue to be a key differentiator for us in the policy and charging control space.
