Sprint this week announced that 1,435 of its stores will be co-branded as “store-within-a-store” Sprint-RadioShack, with the first batch of stores expected to open next week. The launch of the stores follows General Wireless Operations' purchase of the RadioShack brand after the company filed for chapter 11 in February this year.

Sprint said that of the 1,435 Sprint-RadioShack stores, about 300 stores will be completely renovated to the new store-within-a-store model by next week, with the remainder scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. These stores will have new signage, new fixtures and a look-and-feel that is similar to other Sprint-owned stores. The addition of the Sprint-RadioShack stores expands Sprint’s total retail footprint to approximately 4,500 locations in the United States, said the 3rd largest Operator in the US.

Jaime Jones, President, Postpaid & General Business, Sprint
