Brazilian CSP Algar Telecom Selects Nokia Networks to Deploy 700MHz LTE Network Image Credit: Nokia Networks

Algar Telecom, a Brazilan integrated communications provider, has awarded a 5-year turnkey project contract to Nokia Networks. Under the deal, Nokia Networks will be delivering the radio and core networks and managed services to transform the operator’s network infrastructure. Algar Telecom offers advanced landline, mobile phone, broadband, and cable TV services. 

The project will see Nokia Networks enabling Algar's LTE services in the 700 MHz band, upgrading its 3G network and will also include the deployment of Nokia's Telco Cloud. With this, subscribers in Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo will soon enjoy new voice and data services with excellent coverage and capacity. 

The contract includes the deployment of Nokia Networks' compact and energy-efficient Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station, a software-defined radio platform, complemented with Flexi Zone small cell solution and the Telco Cloud infrastructure, including IMS and Evolved Packet Core which will enable Algar Telecom's network to transform towards increased flexibility, scalability and support further innovation. The other components delivered by Nokia Networks as part of the agreement include iSON Manager, a centralized Self Organizing Networks solution to improve Algar Telecom’s network efficiency; Subscriber Data Management Platform, a centralized database for all relevant subscriber information and NetAct virtualized OSS. In addition, Nokia Networks will also be providing its professional services for network planning and optimization and systems integration & managed services with network implementation supported by Nokia Networks' Global Service Delivery and Care Services.
