Zayo Group, a global provider of bandwidth infrastructure services, Monday announced that it has established a core video network, extending throughout the U.S. and U.K for its new Live Video service. The service which will be managed by a dedicated product team, will provide customers in the broadcast, production, video distribution, sports and live event industries with video local loops for point-to-point live video, managed video and distribution network for long haul video delivery, and occasional use events for short-term turn up of live video.

According to Zayo, this provides customers with direct access to a single solutions provider, with a high degree of control and connectivity to key destinations, gateways, on and off ramps, customer sites and venues. These video exchange points are reached via Zayo’s core video network with infrastructure in eight key markets: Atlanta, Chicago, D.C., Denver, Houston, Portland, New York and London. The video network is managed by Zayo’s dedicated Video Network Control Center located in Tulsa, Okla.

Zayo added that among the first customers to use its video network is the National Basketball Association (NBA), who leveraged the solution to transport live broadcast and video feeds for all NBA games, beginning with the 2014-15 NBA season.
