Proxim Wireless, a leading provider in advanced Wi-Fi, point to point (PtP) and point to multipoint (PtMP) radio systems, Monday announced the expansion of its relationship with KPN Hotspots, the Netherlands' largest provider of Wi-Fi hotspots.

According to Proxim, KPN HotSpots has selected Proxim's Tsunami 820 series subscriber units for point to multipoint radio systems, that connect to Proxim's standard base station equipment. This adds to Proxim's ORiNOCO access points that KPN Hotspots were deploying for the last eight years across a large number of locations, including hotel chains, restaurants and cafes, gas stations, railways and public transportation and holiday parks.

The wireless radio systems, said Proxim Wireless, is ideally suited for the outdoor environment with their compact robust hardware and can be deployed and configured rapidly resulting in substantial cost savings, it added.
