KDDI invested in KaiOS Technologies, a provider of OSs for smart feature phones that eliminates the digital divide through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter KOIF III), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.

KaiOS is a web-based operating system. Provides a rich user experience by making major applications and service use available through devices such as mobile phones and other IoT devices that are available at reasonable prices and have limited memory usage.

Through collaborations with mobile phone manufacturers and telecommunication companies around the world, KaiOS aims to achieve global business expansion.

Through this investment, KDDI will apply its previously accumulated knowledge and experiences as a domestic and international telecommunication company to support the global expansion of KaiOS.

As 'the company that customers feel closest to,' KDDI will continue to promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies, and create new business models together with customers and partners.
