Software-defined networking startup Pertino, this week announced new apps, partnerships and platform infrastructure for its network services app store, AppScape™. Dubbed as the next major step forward in its strategy to replace traditional appliances with software-defined, virtualized network technologies, Pertino leverages its Network Service Virtualization (NSV) technology to deliver private cloud networks over the public internet with business-class visibility, security and control.

Pertino also unleashed its first formal partner program, BlueSky Partner Program with a a dedicated partner portal that aims to cater for a wide range of new cloud-savvy solution and channel partner, including referral partners.

Pertino has released the first set of new network services apps for the AppScape app store that include UsageMonitor, which uses big data analytics to offer near-real-time monitoring of network bandwidth consumption by users and devices, ADConnect, which extends Active Directory DNS resolution services to Pertino cloud networks; and NameStation, which assigns default names to all devices, eliminating the need for IP addresses to reach a device.

"Businesses are embracing the hybrid IT model as more of their workforce, work applications and workloads rely on public Internet connectivity. This represents a 180 degree pivot in form and function from traditional WANs. Our Cloud Network Engine and AppScape strategy bring together the platform and partnerships for delivering service-rich private overlay networks with the visibility, security and control that larger IT organizations are accustomed to."

-          Bharath Rangarajan, vice president of product at Pertino

"SDN, along with network and service virtualization technologies, represents a wave of disruption that's poised to sweep across the WAN. In its wake will be a new generation of networking solutions that will be more software-driven, service-defined and business agile with economics that more closely align with the cloud than traditional networks."
