Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), the leading mobile operator in Russia and CIS, has selected SIAE MICROELETTRONICA as one of its wireless millimetre wave technology suppliers for its LTE backhaul network.

The deployment of MTS' ALFOplus80HD will cover several of its geographical regions of operation.

According to SIAE MICROELETTRONICA, due to the favourable conditions and regulations of millimetre wave in Russia, MTS decided to use this technology in its network. The company partnering with the system integrator Rotek has deployed several hundred ALFOplus80HD links capable of multi Gigabit transmission, with the forecast of a network extension project that will double the current coverage, said the company.

"With this award we consolidate our technological partnership with SIAE MICROELETTRONICA as well as growing our presence in MTS."

-          Vladislav Siprikov, Managing director, Rotek

"We worked closely with Rotek to offer MTS the best solution to their needs. This deployment has strengthened our position in the region and the award of the extension is a great reward and sign of the appreciation of our technology performances from MTS," said Giuseppe Locati, Sales Manager for Russia and CIS in SIAE MICROELETTRONICA.
