South Korean operator KT has recently announced that it will start the third phase of its 'Future Talent Cultivation Project' to foster in-house AI and DX talent.

The Future Talent Cultivation Project is KT's representative talent-nurturing project to secure the right candidates to lead the company across fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and digital transformation (DX), and assist its transition towards becoming a Digico (digital platform company). The third phase of this project is a re-skilling (re-education) program for existing personnel, and was implemented for the first time since CEO Koo Hyun-mo took office in 2020.

In order to lead KT's AI and digital innovation efforts, CEO Koo's philosophy is that the company must actively nurture talents with the potential for growth. During this third phase, employees who wish to change their jobs to those within the AI, Cloud, and DX fields are invited to do so through an in-house public contest.

Applicants are recruited regardless of age, department, or rank, and the final selection will be made through document screenings and interviews. From now till December, a full-time AI/DX practical project course will be carried out for a total of six months. After completing the course, employees will be assigned to key AI, Cloud, and DX-related departments to perform their duties. This phase also oversees the establishment of KT's cloud and business-to-business (B2B) consulting fields in order to accelerate its change towards becoming a Digico.

In addition, employees of group companies such as KT CS and KT IS will also participate in the training course to explore group synergies, such as strengthening digital transformation capabilities and carrying out AI projects from a group perspective.
