Danish operator TDC has recently announced that it has completed its nationwide 5G rollout, after upgrading 3800 of its mobile masts on the first of December. The deployment will cover 90% of the country population.

Along with the rollout, TDC has also increased the speed of its 4G network by almost 50%. In this way, all users will experience significantly higher speeds when both downloading and uploading data.

Having been just three months ago when TDC's first 5G mobile mast was launched, there are already now more than 50,000 users who have access to the network, with approximately 1% of TDC's total mobile traffic today taking place on 5G. The number of 5G users has been rising continuously, and will continue to do so as the proliferation of mobile 5G devices and usage scenarios accelerates.

For consumers, 5G will enable users to stream content faster and in better quality, and to use their mobile devices for more advanced data services. For companies and municipalities, 5G plays an important role in their path to digitalisation. In larger cities, 5G can enable and improve intelligent traffic management; within production and agricultural industries, higher 5G speeds can contribute towards increased automation; and for the home care and healthcare sectors, newer and better digital user experiences can be created.

Andreas Pfisterer, CEO, TDC
Every year, Danes' consumption of mobile data increases by about 35-40 percent. The need for a fast mobile network has never been greater. It is therefore an important milestone in our work to connect Denmark that consumers, companies and municipalities across the country can now benefit from the opportunities that 5G opens up.
