Vantrix partners Videotron, a leading Canadian integrated communications company to showcase enhanced capabilities for delivering multiscreen video services to subscribers during The Cable Show 2014.
The solution encompases Vantrix Multiscreen VoD Transcoder, operating on the Kontron SYMKLOUD Media 2U platform powered by the Intel® Core™ i7 processor. Videotron encoded thousands of hours of existing video content adapted to the new devices and applications.
“Videotron has been a longtime multiscreen video customer of ours and they proposed a challenge to us that we jumped at. In addition to the new service delivery, we were able to offline process 22,000 hours of media required in just 15 hours using a cluster of 8 Kontron SYMKLOUD platforms. Using the Intel® Media SDK in the Iris™ Pro Graphics processor and Kontron’s high density packaging, our scalable architecture was able to accelerate the transcoding operation by more than 1400 times. This platform helped us to meet the tight deadlines for launching the new devices.”
- Jean Mayrand, CTO, Vantrix

- Pierre Riy, VP of Research and Development, Vantrix
"The multiscreen offerings from Videotron represent some of the most advanced technology available today. We are delighted our high density SYMKLOUD Media platform with low power Intel processors is part of the Vantrix video processing solution that will jointly enable Videotron to massively scale its video workloads.”
