Telstra has officially launched a range of smart home devices for consumers to make their home a whole lot smarter. Telstra announced back in June that it was planning the release the subscription-based smart home platform and product range before the end of this year.

Dubbed as Telstra Smart Home, the smart home automation and management portfolio includes devices such as motion sensors, cameras, lightbulbs, a thermostat, smart power plugs and smart door locks.

Available from this week, Telstra Smart Home is based around a single app and central device that manages the rest of your home's compatible smart devices.

The Telstra Smart Home App makes it easy for customers to talk to their Smart Home devices, with customised automations. Create instructions in the app to tell the Smart Home devices what to do and when to do it. Customers only need to set up automations once and the Telstra Smart Home Hub will remember them, said Telstra.

There are two starter kits available which are sold on a subscription basis, starting at $25 per month.

The first kit is a “Watch and Monitor” starter kit that comes with two door OR window motion sensors and an indoor HD Wi-Fi Camera that can be set up to record video and take photos or viewed live from the Telstra Smart Home App.

The second kit is an “Automation and Energy” starter kit which comes with two smart power plugs, two door or window sensors and a motion sensor. This enables customers to automate lamps or other electrical appliances and control the power you use in your hours.
