TWM Becomes the 3rd Operator to Launch VoLTE in Taiwan

The second largest mobile operator in Taiwan, Taiwan Mobile (TWM) becomes the third operator in the country to launch the VoLTE service on the island after Asia Pacific Telecom and Taiwan Star Cellular debuted the sevice last year, according to a report by Digitimes. TWM subscribers will have access to the service at a monthly fixed rate of TWD 30 (approximately USD 0.90), in addition to per minute rates which will be the same as those charged on 3G calls.  

According to TWM, the service will initially be available for users of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which the Operator says total over 500,000 on its 4G service. The VoLTE service will be based on SRVCC (single radio voice call continuity) technology that enables TWM's subscribers to enjoy seamless switching from 4G LTE network to 3G, added TWM.
