Magyar Telekom has established an Internet traffic exchange center, MT-IX, providing a new wholesale service designed to manage domestic Internet traffic exchange. Telekom grants access to the new center to all Internet service providers under favourable conditions through which they can optimize the exchange of domestic Internet traffic. Magyar Telekom said that the new Internet traffic exchange center is designed to provide a more favourable alternative for Hungary’s Internet service provider market in terms of both service and tariffs.

Magyar Telekom aims to efficiently run the MT-IX, foreseeing the exchange center reducing peering costs by up to half for internet service providers in the country.

Walter Goldenits, Chief Technology and IT Officer, Magyar Telekom
