Visitors to Bali Will Get More than Sun, Sand and Sea, with 4G Service Rollout by Indonesia's Telkomsel

Bali is seeing another roll out of 4G service on the island as Indonesia's PT Telkomsel, the largest mobile operator in the country announces its plan to launch its 4G services on one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia and South East Asia. Bali, famed for its beaches, active volcanos, temples, arts and crafts as well as unique cuisine and culture, is frequented by tourists from all over the world.

4G services in Indonesia started growing upon the launch of Bolt services by Internux, an internet service provider, that provides 4G connection using a tethering device that gives high-speed Wi-Fi to smartphones, tablet and laptop, even if they are not 4G enabled. With Telkomsel's announcement, subscribers will soon be able to connect their devices directly to the 4G LTE network and watch movies, stream music and access hundreds of applications at high speed, greatly enhancing their online experience.

Telkomsel will launch the 4G service first in Bali, followed by other major cities across Indonesia. With more than 122 million subscribers, the launch marks a major milestone in the development of 4G services in the country which has a population of more than 248 million and also increases 4G coverage in the region, where data consumption is seeing a fast growth trend.

We choose Bali because Bali is the most visited place by foreign tourists. Telkomsel wants to show to the world that Indonesia already applied the latest technology in telecommunications. After Bali, in the first quarter of 2015 the 4G service would be launched in six other big cities in the country including Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, Yogyakarta, and Manado. The 4G network could send data with a speed of five times faster than 3G."
