NTT Com Launches Prepaid SIM Vending Machines for Tourists

NTT Communications (NTT Com), has started operating special vending machines to dispatch Prepaid SIM cards for short-term business travellers and tourists in two locations in Japan - AQUA CITY ODAIBA, a large shopping complex and at the New Kansai International Airport.

NTT Com said that the vending machines enable customers to start using prepaid mobile service in as fast as two minutes after purchasing the SIM card. After purchase, the user simply registers their information such as name and birthday via a touch panel or a passport scanner to begin accessing the Internet immediately. Instructions are provided in English and Chinese, as well as Japanese. Payment is via credit card, so there is no need to prepare Japanese yen cash, said NTT Com.
