Rakuten Mobile on Tuesday announced the release of the Rakuten WiFi Pocket, an original mobile Wi-Fi router.

Available in 2 color variations, Black and White, the Rakuten WiFi Pocket features a design incorporating the official Rakuten mascot Okaimono Panda.

To celebrate the launch of the Rakuten WiFi Pocket, a campaign will be held in which customers who sign up for a Rakuten UN-LIMIT V contract bundled with the device and answer a questionnaire at the time of purchase can buy the device for practically zero yen.

The Rakuten WiFi Pocket is equipped with a high-capacity battery that offers up to 10 hours of connectivity, ideal for extended use wherever internet access is required. And it is easy to use: Users can connect to Wi-Fi by simply scanning the QR code displayed on the screen of the Rakuten WiFi Pocket with a smartphone or other device.

Customers who connect to the Rakuten WiFi Pocket from their own smartphone can use the unlimited data that comes with their Rakuten UN-LIMIT V service plan when in the Rakuten network area free of charge for one year.
