Swisscom announced the launch of a new app exclusively for Swisscom TV (UHD-ready TV-Box from Swisscom), NOOW.

NOOW which works on a blockchain-based system in the background, guarantees the ownership rights for buyers and payment for artists. NOOW will intitailly include 100 works by 30 international artists. With over 300 channels, a huge selection of films, series and sports on demand, plus great apps, Swisscom TV offers its customers the best entertainment – now including digital art for the living room. The NOOW app enables viewers to select the pieces and purchase a certified copy.

The company behind NOOW is dloop, a start-up that was created as a spin-off from Swisscom's internal innovation programme, in which employees can contribute their own business ideas. NOOW uses ERC 721 smart contracts, which are based on the ethereum blockchain technology, to certify its works of art. The digital certificates of authenticity can be transferred easily by buyers and artists to new users.
