Telekom Slovenije announced that it is planning to launch a solution next year that makes it possible for users to simultaneously use the copper (xDSL) and the LTE/4G mobile network.

The new solution will enable a combined data transfer over a so-called hybrid access to provide an even better user experience when using the internet and watching television at the same time.

Telekom Slovenije said it will introduce details of the commercial offer in January 2018, while transfer speeds available to individual users will be limited to realistically achievable speeds that do not overburden the mobile network. Users of Top Trio plans who opt for hybrid access as an extra service will receive a special modem with a SIM card and the IPTV BOX S set-top box.

Telekom Slovenije’s experts introduced an in-house-developed technological solution that provides internet, fixed telephone service, and TV over the LTE/4G mobile network already in May 2015. Telekom Slovenije provides the solution to users in areas where it is not possible to set up a fixed connection, but LTE/4G mobile coverage is available.

At the same time, Telekom Slovenije said it continues to upgrade the capabilities and performance of its 4G LTE-Advanced network and the expansion of its fiber optics network.
