Telia Company this week announced the launching of VoLTE service for its private customers in Sweden.
The new technology means that users can browse on their mobile phones while at the same time make and receive high-quality voice calls over the 4G network. Customers will also experience benefits such as improved coverage and faster call connection.
Until now, only data services have been offered over 4G which means that voice calls drop down to 3G or 2G when a call connection takes place.
Initially, the new service will be available to users with models from Sony, Samsung and Huawei. The service will soon also be rolled out to users who have the latest phone models from other major manufacturers.
The rollout of VoLTE to Telia's enterprise customers in Sweden is planned for May.
Another operator in the country, Three become the first Swedish operator to launch VoLTE service July lasy year. In addition of providing better call quality and faster call set-up, Three said the service will also allow handover between VoLTE calls and VoWiFI that was launched by Three in 2016.
