Leading Mobile Virtual Network Operator(MVNO) in Germany freenet has made two key aquisitions to bolster its ability to provide TV services via the Internet.

The company is acquiring all shares in the Media Broadcast Group, the sole commercial provider of DVB-T2 and DAB+ in Germany for €295 million ($320 million). In addition, freenet AG has acquired a 25 per cent stake in EXARING, the Munich-based provider of a closed IP platform for innovative entertainment services.

With its latest acquisitions, freenet AG said that it will be the only supplier of Full HD and 4K content on both stationary and mobile devices.

The acquisition of Media Broadcast Group will enable freenet to further diversify in digital lifestyle and open up new growth potential and revenue sources. As for EXARING, freenet is securing the marketing rights to this closed IP platform for innovative entertainment services.

Christoph Vilanek, CEO, freenet
