From plain voice and SMS and now to data, Mobile Operators have come a long way in delivering the new-age services which are revolutionizing the way people live today. While Mobile Operators are in the phase of rolling out newer and more targeted services via their data networks, which collectively make up the whole range of digital services we see in the market today - media, advertising, cloud storage, m-commerce including m-payments and m-money, there are already predictions of the next wave of services that will happen in the mobile sphere.
According to the Mobile Innovations Forecast (MIF) Phase II: New technological Capabilities Report by PWC, the next generation of mobile innovation will focus on capturing and modeling consumers' contextual situations which means that the network will now serve subscribers more intelligently, and will bring more relevant content and services that increase the take-up rates of the services offered and will boost revenues for the Mobile Operators while delivering more customized and hence, more satisfactory service to the end customers. According to PWC, the next-generation mobile technologies draw information from users' three main environments—physical, virtual and social—as the primary resource for predictive mobile applications and services that will dramatically enhance mobile capabilities and enable devices to become true digital assistants.
"We are now entering a new, dynamic phase of mobile technology where there is a shift from a limited set of communication and computing functions to intellectual analysis and rationalisation of device owners' physical, virtual and social environments," said Raman Chitkara, Global Technology Leader, PwC. "Soon, mobile devices will analyse and anticipate human needs using platforms that engage the user based on data pulled from multiple sources to create ever more intuitive mobile experiences."
