Telenor Group appoints Morten Sørby to head the Group's operations in Asia, filling up the position left by Sigve Brekke who is appointed as the President and CEO of the group. Morten who will commence his new role on the 17th of August will assume all the responsibilities in overseeing and running Telenor Group’s operations in Asia and will also be part of Telenor’s Group Executive Management team.

Having joined Telenor in 1993, Morten Sørby who holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Karlstad brings significant operational and strategic mobile telecommunications experience to the role as Head of the Asia region.

Prior to this, Sørby was CEO of Uninor, Telenor’s wholly owned operations in India, where he led the company's growth in terms of both revenue and market share. In his earlier roles, Morten served as the Executive Vice President in charge of corporate strategy and regulatory affairs in the Telenor Group and held the position as the Executive Vice President and head of the Norwegian and Nordic mobile and fixed network operations of Telenor.
