SoftBank Group in an announcement on Monday said that its Board of Directors has agreed to split the company into two entities, one managing the local operations and the other for global operations.
Under the reorganization, SoftBank President Nikesh Arora will head the overseas business which holds the majority shares in the 4th largest mobile operator in the US, Sprint. The former Google exec will manage the fast-grow but riskier international business. Meanwhile Ken Miyauchi who is currently serving as president, chief operations officer and director of Softbank, will now head SoftBank’s Japanese mobile operations and other assets in Japan, including its stake in Yahoo Japan.
The operator's group operations will be maintained by current SoftBank Group Chairman and Chief Executive Masayoshi Son, who is also the founder of Softbank.
