Source: Facebook Source: Facebook

Facebook has just launched a new App from its Creative Labs and its called Slingshot. Slingshot introduces a new dimension to social sharing - where you can only view what your friends share if you have something to share in return. In otherwords, everyone must participate in order to be 'in'. Currently, Facebook sharing is one-way, where all connections can view your posts, images and videos without liking, commenting or sharing them.

According to a Facebook blog post on their new App, Facebook intends to build something where everybody is a creator and nobody is just a spectator. When everyone participates, there’s less pressure, more creativity and even the little things in life can turn into awesome shared experiences. In addition, Facebook highlighted that photos and videos that don’t stick around forever allow for sharing that’s more expressive, raw and spontaneous allowing people to live in the moment. The release of this app is expected to create new competition for Snapchat, a similar app released by Snapchat Inc. With Slingshot, friends can share everyday moments with lots of people at once. The Slingshot App is now available in the US on iPhone (iOS7) and Android (Jelly Bean and KitKat).
