As DTW23 - Ignite enters its second day, The Fast Mode spoke to MongoDB, a global developer data platform, on their participation at the ongoing event.

What products / solutions will MongoDB be showcasing at DTW23? Can we expect to see any new launches?

We will be focusing on key updates that were made to our developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, earlier this year that can have a big impact on the speed and efficiency of innovation. These include:

  1. MongoDB Atlas Vector Search: By integrating the operational database and vector store in a single, unified, and fully managed platform — along with support integrations into large language models (LLMs) — Atlas Vector Search is a fast and easy way to build semantic search and AI-powered applications.
  2. MongoDB Atlas Edge Server: Automates the synchronization of data between a public cloud region and one or more public or private edge locations. This enhances the control available to an organization with regard to where their data is processed while retaining a complete view of that data in the public cloud.

Are there any plans to collaborate with other exhibitors or sponsors? Will MongoDB be running any joint demos or showcases?

MongoDB has long partnered with providers of telco-specific services. These include ISVs who use MongoDB to underpin products - from core BSS to innovative OTT services to large-scale global systems integrators and hyperscalers to deliver end-to-end solutions to solve some of the most complex industry specific challenges. At DTW this year, MongoDB will be showcasing a collaboration with AWS in the delivery of edge-based solutions.

In order to be able to capitalize on the investments made in 5G technology and to unlock a broader set of mission-critical use cases, it is necessary not just to be able to move compute to the edge of the 5G network, but also the data-processing capabilities. By combining the data processing capabilities of the MongoDB Atlas Data Platform with the automated data synchronization capabilities of MongoDB Atlas Edge Server and the compute capabilities provided by AWS Wavelength, it is possible to provide low latency access to data when and where it is needed while minimizing architectural complexity.

What are some emerging trends and technologies that you expect will power digital transformation in the telco space in the next year?

Like many industries, CSPs are looking to technologies that have the capability to reduce cost while improving overall customer experience. AI is a much talked about technology that has the potential to revolutionize many CSP processes ranging from network management to end-user customer support.

Generative AI will transform the way that customers choose to interact with a CSP.  Enhanced ChatBots will be able to utilize an increasingly broad amount of data relating to a customer to make fully automated decisions in the resolution of customer issues and queries. This will reduce the overall amount of time that customer service staff spend dealing directly with customer calls, which will reduce costs. Additionally, it will provide the ability to predict potential customer churn more accurately through sentiment analysis, which also has an impact on the bottom line. In the network space, the march towards fully automated networks will continue - enabled by advances in AI. This will enable CSPs to deliver a high, and predictable, quality of service to end-users without the need for manual interventions.
