Qosmos today announced new traffic clasification software that can accurately detect encrypted traffic. The latest version of the company's IP traffic classification software can accurately classify traffic encrypted with SSL/TLS (e.g. Google, Facebook, WhatsApp), P2P traffic (e.g. BitTorrent, MuTorrent, Vuze), and Skype, while preserving the privacy of communication content.
According to Qosmos, these new classification techniques mean that traffic optimization, policy enforcement, and user experience are largely unaffected by encryption. In respect with subscriber privacy, communication service providers can continue to leverage network intelligence to ensure service quality and manage resource utilization.
Qosmos claims that it offers the first classification and network intelligence technology on the market to support more than 2,600 protocol signatures ensuring accurate and detailed traffic analysis. The company’s technology identifies wire data in real time, providing a true picture of the traffic by identifying protocols up to the application level. Equipment makers, security specialists and data center software vendors widely use Qosmos to gain application visibility, accelerate time to market and benefit from continuous signature updates.
