AT&T unveiled a new satellite connectivity service to help companies to better manage their Internet of Things (IoT) deployments, enabling them to track assets even in the most hard-to-reach places. AT&T said that the solution will enable companies to pull data from devices in remote areas with limited connectivity such as a tractor on a farm, a generator in the desert or oil pipelines in remote regions.
The second largest mobile operator in the US has teamed up with Globecomm, a leading global solutions integrator and data management company, to launch the service that allows satellite connectivity to work seamlessly with its cellular network. This means that businesses and goverments no longer need to purchase their cellular and satellite services separately to manage their assets that spread across the globe.
