At the recent MWC, Samsung unveiled a number of key milestones in the millimeter wave(mmWave) technology for 5G networks.

The solution showcased by the company boasts advanced capabilities such as hybrid beamforming, ultra-high transmission speed and extremely low latency. Prototypes of small cells with these capabilities are able to increase the capacity of cells by over 65% compared to MIMO standard, claims Samsung.

According to Samsung, the mmWave systems which operate on the 28GHz and 60GHz spectrum are ideal for the future deployment of high density small cell systems. In addition, special array antenna technology combined with a signal processing technique and advanced hybrid beamforming will increase the capacity of cells and improve the user experience by ensuring the best possible signal is routed directly to the user's device.

Leveraging adaptive antenna beamforming technology, the solution has the ability to compensate for losses in the event of transmission in situations without a direct line of sight (non-line of sight, NLOS) using the reflection from nearby surfaces, added Samsung.

In 2014 Samsung has set some early benchmarks of 5G technologies . This year, we set another goal - we focus on testing in a real environment tests of mobility and use of 5G in the form of live streaming VR, which is close to 4K UHD, with selected operators in the US and Korea.

The whole industry will be transformed thanks to connectivity, which will possibly 5G devices and networks.
