Mirantis, the pure play OpenStack company, Tuesday announced a strategic technology and investment collaboration with Intel that will see Intel Capital leading a $100 million funding round with new investor Goldman Sachs and existing investors that include August Capital, Insight Venture Partners, Ericsson and others.
Intel's investment in Mirantis is part of the company's ‘Cloud for All’ initiative that centers on open cloud infrastructure. The collaboration between both companies will focus on accelerating enterprise feature optimization in Mirantis’ OpenStack distribution and fueling enterprise OpenStack adoption.
According to Mirantis, the collaboration will see capability enhancements specifically across areas such as performance at scale, storage, network integration and support for big data. Addressing these areas will expand the use of OpenStack and make it easier for Mirantis' and Intel's customers to adopt the technology.
