Nokia Networks' Cloud Index Studies Operator's Technology & Business Maturity to Transition to Cloud

Nokia Networks has developed a new index, in partnership with research firm, Analsys Mason, to evaluate the readiness of Operators' technology and business in supporting their transition to its cloud infrastructure. The methodology and framework of the index assesses the maturity of an Operator’s current cloud technology deployments, and business operations and processes. This enables Operators to measure progress towards their telco cloud objectives, identify the technology and process changes needed to meet those objectives, and see how their headway measures up in the industry.

According to Nokia Networks, a number of Operators took part in a pilot phase which provided insightful recommendations on how they could close the gap between their perceived and actual telco cloud transformation. Initial findings have shown that Operators have an opportunity to balance business maturity with technological advances.

The index also plots an Operator’s transformation plans for the subsequent 12 months, with regular repeat surveys expected to help the Operator monitor progress.

Igor Leprince, Executive VP & Head of Global Services, Nokia Networks
In a telco world where the cloud computing and telco cloud domains are merging, it is crucial for operators to plan their cloud transition really well. With this launch, they can use the Telco Cloud Index to help address challenging questions about their cloud strategy and execution planning which they may not have previously considered. And they can even compare themselves against their peers.

Glen Ragoonanan, Principal Analyst, Analysys Mason
Telco cloud is a high priority for most operators, many of whom have similar aims but widely different approaches and varying degrees of IT and network overlap as the starting point. Nokia’s Telco Cloud Index provides much needed business and technology maturity benchmarking and lessons learned to participating operators and the wider industry as well as helps Nokia Networks provide a more relevant telco cloud portfolio for operators, worldwide.
