Qualcomm Technologies, Monday announced the availability of 40 new designs in its pipeline for premium tier and high-volume mobile devices for the Chinese market, in response to the increasing popularity of LTE-Advanced Carrier Aggregation among mobile operators in China. LTE-A Carrier Aggregation support allows operators to maximize available spectrum and offer enhanced user experiences to consumers. This sees the company planning the release of integrated X10, X8 and X5 LTE modems which support the LTE-A Carrier Aggregation across all tiers of its Snapdragon™ processors. 

The X10 LTE with 3x20MHz fully integrated LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation supports download speeds up to 450 Mbps and is designed to support the most advanced user experiences, such as 4K streaming, sharing high-quality photos and online gaming.  The X10 LTE is featured in the Snapdragon 810 and 808 processors. 

The Snapdragon 618 and 620 processors with X8 LTE features seamless, always-on connectivity, supporting 2x20MHz Carrier Aggregation for data speeds of up to 300 in Mbps for download and up to 100 Mbps in the upload. Included in the Snapdragon 425 processor, the X8 LTE modem supports both downlink and uplink Carrier Aggregation doubling LTE download and upload speeds, a first in the 400 tier, bringing premium-tier quality performance to high volume mobile devices.

Found in the Snapdragon 210 processor, the X5 LTE modem features integrated 4G LTE providing speed and dependability for high-volume smartphones and tablets.

Among the phone makers which will soon be featuring these processors are Xiaomi, Motorola, ZTE, OPPO, Tianyu, LeTV, Vivo, Nubia, Smartisan Technology, Coolpad and Hisense, said Qualcomm.
